Sonya Dawn Proffitt (Simmons), age 65, passed away on August 14, 2025, in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Born on March 2, 1960, in Newfoundland, Canada, Sonya brought warmth and creativity into every space she touched.

Sonya was an avid homemaker whose passion for decorating transformed her surroundings into welcoming havens. She found joy in the details-whether arranging a cozy room or preparing a comforting meal-and took pride in creating spaces filled with love and care. Her affection for dogs was well known among those close to her; they were constant companions who brought her great happiness.

The beach held a special place in Sonya's heart. She cherished quiet moments watching sunrises and sunsets over the water, finding peace and inspiration in nature's rhythms.

She is remembered by her daughters, Shaunna Kiser and Shannon Johnson, and her son, Tyson Proffitt. Sonya was preceded in death by her husband, Robbie Proffitt.

May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
