Sonya Williams Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary - Maynardville on Dec. 20, 2025.
Sonya Lynn Davidson Williams passed away peacefully on Friday, December 19, 2025 surrounded by friends and family.

Sonya was born on March 1, 1970 to Bill Davidson and Evelyn White. Sonya was a member of New Tazewell Christian Church and was baptized at Coker Creek during church camp when she was 12. She contributed to her church in many ways, but her favorite way to contribute was the hours she spent decorating the church and sanctuary for every season and holiday.

Sonya loved having a good time-she enjoyed concerts and music festivals, biker rallies, cheering on the Volunteers, and making a big to-do for holidays with her friends and family. Sonya also loved to cook and bake and was excellent at it. Sonya loved to have a good laugh, and her intelligence and creativity were unmatched.

Sonya is preceded in death by her husband Oscar "JJ" Williams; father Bill Davidson; paternal grandparents, Sallie and Chester Davidson; maternal grandparents, Iva and Luther White; and cousin, Billy Davidson.

Sonya leaves behind her mother Evelyn White; three daughters Ariel (Mikey) Fisher, Amanda (Spencer) Nolan, and Rhiannon White; three grandchildren Rylan, Myka, and Adisyn; many close friends; and her beloved dog, Shifter.

As she wished, Sonya will be laid to rest beside her late husband at Narrow Ridge Earth Literacy Center. In lieu of flowers, Sonya's family asks that you consider making a donation to help with operations and the mission at Narrow Ridge

Family and friends will meet at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Cooke-Campbell Mortuary to go in procession to Narrow Ridge Earth Literacy Center for a 2:00 PM graveside service. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary in Maynardville.
