Sonyuan Lin, of Natick, formerly of Pingtung, Taiwan, passed away on June 15, 2025, at the age of 66 after a courageous two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer.
Devoted husband of Hui-May Chu. Beloved father of Jonathan Lin and Jefferey Lin, both of Natick. Cherished son of the late Tiao-Rui Lin and Yu-Ying Lin Wu. Loving brother of Song Sun Lin, May May Lin, Yuan Yuan Lin, and Song Chiang Lin.
Sonyuan earned his Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut, where he developed a lifelong love for UConn Basketball. He was passionate about education, sports, and community. In his younger years, he founded a rugby team at Kaohsiung Medical University and played rugby at UConn. Later in life, he embraced soccer, becoming a devoted Manchester United supporter and the biggest fan of his sons' soccer teams.
During the pandemic, he stayed active by biking 50 miles a day and found peace and pride in tending to his large garden.
Above all, he was a man of resilience, curiosity, and strength, who deeply loved his family and cherished the life he built. His humor, kindness, and determination will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Visiting Hours will be held at John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, Natick Common, on Saturday, June 21 from 2 to 4 p.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
