RICHFIELD SPRINGS – Richard Marston Erwin, age 85, of Lakeview Avenue, passed away on Sunday September 14, 2025 in Alpine Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Little Falls.
Marston was born July 21, 1940 in Gilmanton, New Hampshire, a son of the late Richard H. and Margaret I. Marston Erwin. He was raised and educated in Franklin, Massachusetts and a graduate of Franklin High School. Marston furthered his education by obtaining his Bachelors in History and Political Science from the University of Connecticut, a Master's Degree in Education from Boston University. On June 24, 1962 he married the former Geraldine "Geri" Giuliano in Milton, Massachusetts, a blessed union of sixty-three years. Marston taught and was an Administrator in several different school systems, lastly he was the Principal of Richfield Springs High School retiring in 2002. Marston and Geri moved to Richfield Springs in 1987 after living in New Hartford.
Marston was active in the community and his church, he was a member of the Governing Board at the Church of Christ Uniting and the Property Chairman. He was a Past President of the Richfield Springs Rotary Club, a chairman for the blood drive, and a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award. In his spare time he loved carpentry and woodworking and known for remodeling his home and a few others that were not his. He enjoyed time with his family and friends, he loved participating in his children and grandchildren's extra curricular.
He was a friend to many and will never be forgotten.
Surviving him besides his wife Geri are a daughter Kristen Culkin and her husband Kevin of Chittenango, a son Matthew Erwin and his companion Penny Kirkpatrick of Dacula, Georgia, a brother David Erwin and his wife Tricia of Naples, Florida, four grandchildren; Katie LaGamba and her husband Zachary of North Tonawanda, Mikey Culkin of Rotterdam, Andrew Erwin of Flowery Branch, Georgia, Mac Erwin of Macon, Georgia, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Charles Erwin, and two sisters Verna Irons and Isabelle Romanow.
Calling hours for Mr. Erwin will take place on Saturday September 20th from 10:00-11:00am in the Church of Christ Uniting, Church Street, Richfield Springs, a funeral service to follow with the Reverend Christine Mitchell officiating.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory with donations to the Church of Christ Uniting or the
American Diabetes Association. Envelopes will be available at the church.
