Sophia Cesiel, aged 97 of Rochester Hills, MI, September 9, 2025.

Sophia was born May 22, 1928 in Utica, MI, the daughter of Blaze and Frances (Domanski) Jurek. She married George Cesiel in 1956 and they eventually settled in Ortonville, MI where they raised their family. Sophia lived there for 51 years until moving to Rochester Hills 8 years ago.

Sophia enjoyed gardening, cooking, travel and volunteering work at her church and her sons' school. Most of all, she loved being with her family.

Sophia was the loving mother of Gregory and Douglas and grandmother to David, Ryan, and Kathryn. She led her family with quiet strength and devotion, and inspired her children and grandchildren.

Sophia was preceded in death by her husband, George, her brothers Edward, Joe, John, and Walter, and her sister Stella Amrecki. Her surviving family includes her sons Gregory (Susan), Douglas (Helen), her sister Anna Perdue, and her grandchildren David (Lexi), Ryan (Ryan Gerard), and Kathryn (Andrew) Gomez.
