Sophia A. Talbert, 84, of Covington passed away Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Franciscan Health in Crawfordsville.
Sophia was born on October 21, 1940 in Covington to Elmer and Margaret (Merryman) Ricketts. She grew up in Covington and graduated from Covington High School in 1958. Shortly after graduation she was united in marriage to Robert E. Talbert, in Danville, IL. She was primarily a homemaker most of her life and also cleaned for many people.
She is survived by: two daughters Trina M Wise, Covington; Claudia A (Jim) Jones, West Lebanon; a son Donald W. (Lorie) Talbert, Greencastle; eight grandchildren, Jeremy (Jennifer) Wise, Stephanie (Brandan) O’Neal, Craig (Krista) Jones, Cara (Josh) Jones Saini, Nicholas Talbert, Morgan Talbert, Cynthia Talbert, Courtney Talbert, two step grandchildren Jessica (Jason) Cochran, Hannah (Blake) Knowling, eight great-grandchildren, Ethan Wise, Deven Wise, Zach Wise, Landon O’Neal, Sophia O’Neal, Autumn Jones, Keith Jones, Jay-Lin Thompkins, five step great-grandchildren, Rhett & Ruthie Knowling ; Jaiden, Madi & Charlie Jones; a special daughter, Mitzi Barnes; brothers Paul (Jean) Ricketts, and Dan (Shirley) Ricketts and many nieces and nephews.Sophie was preceded in death by her husband Robert E. Talbert earlier this year.
Graveside service was held at 2:00 PM Tuesday June 3, 2025 at Mt Hope Cemetery in Covington with Pastor Bob Fairchild officiating.
