Sophie Cancelmo

Sophie (Blusiewicz) (Bitcauski) Cancelmo, 87, of Granby and formerly of Windsor and East Hartford, widow of George A. Cancelmo, passed away Monday, November 22, 2021. Born in Hartford, daughter of the late Joseph and Emilie (Mucha) Blusiewicz, she was raised in Hartford and lived in East Hartford for over 30 years. She had been employed by the State of Connecticut, Health Department for many years before her retirement. She leaves her daughter Barbara Hoyt and her husband Jeoffrey of Windsor; grandchildren Brennan and Krista Bertrand, Jaclyn and Jared Bertrand, and Shawna Leigh and Jason Sebesta; greatgrandchildren Dalton, Kevin, Dennis, and Eva Bertrand, Jason, Jr. and Jackson Sebesta; and a greatgreatgrandchild Colt Bertrand. Besides her husband and parents Sophie was predeceased by brothers John, Michael, Stanley, Fred, and her sisters Anna, Stella, Wanda, and Helen. Her family will receive friends Tuesday November 30, 2021, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am followed by a Memorial Service at 11:30 am at the Carmon Poquonock Funeral Home, 1816 Poquonock Avenue, Poquonock section of Windsor.
