Sophie Pieri, 93, from West Wyoming, passed away Thursday, Feb. 5, 2026, at Riverstreet Manor, Wilkes-Barre.
Sophie was born in Plains Township, the daughter of the late Anthony and Agnes Shubzda.
She was a 1950 graduate of Plains High School. Along with raising four children, Sophie worked at several retailers, with her most special being Shoemaker's Cards and Gifts, where she developed lifelong friendships with several coworkers. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking delicious meals, and curling up with a good book. She was a member of St. Monica's Parish of West Wyoming.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Pieri; daughter, Joanne Cousin; brothers, Joseph and Tony Shubzda; and sister, Mary Jones.
Sophie is survived by her children, Robert Pieri, of West Palm Beach, Fla.; Richard Pieri and his wife, Judy, of Drums; David Pieri and his wife, Christine, of Exeter; sister, Helen Goskoski, of Binghampton, N.Y.; and brother, Stan Shubzda of Plains Township. In addition, Sophie also has two grandchildren, Ricky and Amy Pieri.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family from Metcalfe Shaver Kopcza Funeral Home Inc., 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.

Sophie was a long time friend of our family. My Mom Marian Dunn worked for many years with Sophie at Shoemakers. They shared many good years, & wonderful times with much love & laughter.
