Sophie Agnes Zaccari

Sophie Agnes (Zawistowski) Zaccari, 92, of Pittsfield, passed away on Saturday August 23, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Pittsfield on June 18, 1933, the ninth of eleven children, to Stanislaus and Anna (Ptak) Zawistowski. She graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1951. Sophie was primarily a homemaker and was devoted to her family. She enjoyed watching New York Yankees baseball, couponing, and camping trips, which she continued into her nineties. In her younger years, she worked at the former Woolworth department store. She was the widow of Joseph Salvadore Zaccari, who died in 1998. They were married on February 16, 1952. Survivors include one daughter, Barbara A. Zaccari of Pittsfield; one son, Joseph S. Zaccari, Jr. and his wife Trisha Rice of Portland, OR; and four grandchildren: Kathleen Farnum of Somerville, MA; Jessica Shandor of Hamburg, NJ; Tazman Briggs of Castle Rock, CO; and Ramsey McGrath of Tucker, GA. She also leaves her great-granddaughter, Alexis Shandor; a brother, Charles Zawistowski of Pittsfield; a sister, Jeannie Burke, also of Pittsfield; and many nieces and nephews.
