Thomas Martin McHugh, Sr., loving husband and father, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025. Thomas was born in Hackensack, New Jersey on March 8, 1934. He was a member of the United States Army and the New Jersey Army National Guard for nearly fifty years. He retired from the United States Postal Service as the Post Master of Belvidere, New Jersey on 1989.
Thomas was inducted into the Warren County Hall of Fame in 2015. He was a competitive pistol and rifle shooter with the North-South Skirmish Association and is a past Commander of the American Legion Blue Ridge Post 164 in Hackettstown, New Jersey. He also held the following offices in the Korean War Veterans Association:
Thomas was often seen driving his 1952 M38A Korean War Army Jeep around Hackettstown, New Jersey. Thomas also owned a few 1955 Ford Fairlanes.
Thomas is survived by his wife of 68 years, Barbara Z. McHugh, five of his children, John V. McHugh, Robert A. McHugh, Jennifer L. McHugh, Steven E. McHugh, and Christopher J. McHugh, their spouses, his ten grandchildren and his eight great grandchildren.
Thomas was predeceased by his parents. Hubert P. McHugh and Eva J. McHugh and his son Thomas M. McHugh, Jr.
A private Celebration of Thomas' Life will be held in September.
