Stacie (Buser) Oberacker, age 65, of Erie, passed away peacefully on July 23rd, 2023. She was surrounded by her loving family at her side after a courageous battle with cancer.
Stacie was born August 21, 1957, the fourth of ten children to the late Richard and Geraldine Buser. She graduated from Tech Memorial in 1975, where she met the love of her life, Richard, which led to a 45-year marriage, three children, and six grandchildren.
She enjoyed the simple things in life: a long morning of sipping coffee, looking at her flowers, enjoying a good thunderstorm, watching baseball, playing slots at the casino, and enjoying the company of others. She wasn't the traveling or adventurous type but found being home and spending time with the people she cared about to be the most fun activity for her.
"Stace" was a family woman, coming from a large family, while also inheriting a large family in the Oberackers. The happy hours and other family events were often hosted by Stace, gathering all the aunts and uncles and dozens of nieces and nephews, welcoming all for a cold beer and good conversation.
Being a mom to her three girls was her treasure, having unique and special relationships with each one, something she learned from her own mother and father. In her time of being a grandparent, Stace loved having a child on her knee, reading book after book, and laughing together. Stace would often "click click" a gift to their houses just because she wanted to, and always made sure the pantry was full of the perfect snacks only Grandma was allowed to give them. She loved her swing, and enjoyed watching her six grandchildren play in the yard, smiling big and bright from all their giggling and running around together. Family was her everything, and she was certainly her family's everything.
Stace often mentioned the importance of having friends in your life, and she definitely had a good share of them. She had her club girls, her thirsty Thursday group, her 25th street gang, her casino sidekicks, Chris and Tim, but her best friends were her loving sisters, all of whom were major caregivers in her final days.
Her enthusiasm for the Cleveland Indians/Guardians held strong throughout her life, never missing a single game. Even in her dying days while resting she would periodically wake to ask when the game was on or what the score was. Stacie was a true sports lover.
Stacie was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Geraldine Buser.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Oberacker; her three daughters: Erin Kovacs (Andrew), Anna Voelker (Jacob), and Lisa Hilinski (Taylor); her six grandchildren: Mallory, Vivian, Lucas, Jack, Lauren, and Finnley; her nine siblings: Lynn Kellogg (Jim), Karen Skopow (Tom), Jayne Randall (Ron), Shaun Kisiel (Joe), Richard Buser (Chris), Tricia Clark (John), Joan Dunar (Mark), Kevin Buser (Patty), and Kim Buser (Tom); and her brother and sisters-in-law: Alma Snyder, Joanne Swanseger, Joyce Marrucci (John), and Murray Oberacker.
As a family, we want to thank the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, Hamot Hospital, and UPMC Family Hospice nurses and staff for all their care and compassion throughout this process.
Family and friends are warmly invited to call at Dusckas-Taylor Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 5151 Buffalo Rd.
