Marie Louise OBERACKER

OBERACKER - Marie Louise (nee Sciolino)
Devoted wife and loving mother, passed peacefully into the arms of our dear Lord on July 31, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frances and Thomas Sciolino; siblings Anthony Sciolino, Ida Sciolino Antonucci and by her beloved husband of 51 years, Leon (Sid) Oberacker. Formally of Buffalo, NY, Marie began her career as a school teacher and later in the fabric industry. A personal highlight came in December of 1976, when Marie proudly became the first woman member of the prestigious men's only, Buffalo Yacht Club. Marie and Sid enjoyed many years of tennis, boating and entertaining. After retiring to Jupiter, FL, Marie remained the consummate hostess. She and Sid were very active in their Ocean Trail community and longtime members of Jupiter First Church. Marie especially enjoyed the knitting ministry. She was a board member of the Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O). Both groups of women became dear friends.
Marie is survived by her children; Glen Oberacker, Lisa (Greg) Skomra, Ellen (Keith) Miller, Lori (Jack) Pardue and Bill (Beth) Oberacker; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and cherished nieces and nephews. Her family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the Trustbridge Hospice Care Team for their compassionate care of Marie. A Celebration of Life will be held at Jupiter First Church on Saturday, September 9 at 11:00am. A private burial will take place at Acacia Park Cemetery in Buffalo.
