Stanley "Stan" Dwayne Elliott passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on March 26, 1953, to Fred Elliott and Anita Childers. Stan was the eldest of three children and grew up in a tight-knit, loving family rooted in faith and the importance of family, a foundation he would carry with him throughout his life. Stan shared a special bond with his two sisters, Sue and Sandy. As the oldest sibling, he embraced the role of protector and example, always leading with integrity and warmth.
On June 27 1981, Stan married the love of his life, Marie, and together they built a beautiful life grounded in love, faith, and mutual devotion. For 44 wonderful years, Stan and Marie stood by one another's side, raising three sons, Cody, Curtis, and Dawson, whom he cherished deeply. Some of his fondest memories were spent attending ball games, going on family vacations, and enjoying time outdoors hunting, fishing, and camping. He was a constant source of guidance, always ready with advice, encouragement, and unconditional support.
Professionally, Stan spent over 20 years in the car business, beginning his career as a salesman and working his way up to General Manager. He carried his childhood values into his work, treating everyone, from receptionists to mechanics to customers, as family. Later in life, he also worked in the real estate business, where he continued to do what he loved, meeting new people, forming connections, and helping others with genuine care and enthusiasm.
Above all, Stan was most proud of being "Papaw" to his four granddaughters, Aubree, Avery, Camryn, and Brynlee who brought immense and laughter to his life. His legacy of love, faith, and devotion lives on in each of them.
Stan is survived by his beloved wife Marie Elliott; three sons, Cody Elliott, Curtis Elliott (Brittany), and Dawson Elliott all of West Jefferson; two sisters, Sue Richardson of West Jefferson and Sandy Boone (David) of West Jefferson, one brother; Dennis Cockerham (Teri) of Florida, four granddaughters; Aubree Elliott, Avery Elliott, Camryn Elliott, and Brynlee Elliott. He is also remembered with love by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is now reunited in eternal peace with his parents, Fred and Anita Elliott, his cherished "Mamaw Aggie" and "Little Papaw," his loving father and mother-in-law, Curtis and Bernita Taylor, and his affectionate aunts and uncle Edith, Ethelene, and Paul Elliott.
There are some who bring such a light to the world that even after they are gone, their light continues to shine. Stan's unwavering faith, kind heart, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him. His legacy of love and strength will live on through the many lives he touched.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at 7pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Ashley officiating. Graveside services will be private.
