Stan Windhorst, 73 of Metropolis, IL, passed away at 7:15 a.m. on Friday, September 5, 2025 at his home, Windy Hill Farm.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church with Rev. Tom Emmerson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Stan retired from DWI and was a faithful member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church. He was a St. Louis Cardinals fan, enjoyed golf, playing pool, helping others and traveling and loved spending time with his kids, grandkids and church family.

Stan is survived by his daughter, Karla Vanhooser and husband Brian; son, Scott Windhorst and wife Colleen; grandchildren, Keegan Smith and Kevin, Aiden Vanhooser and Kailie, and Sarah Windhorst; brothers, Gary Windhorst and wife Toni and Jeff Windhorst and wife Nancy; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Howard Windhorst and one brother, Ricky Windhorst.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 11th, from 11:00 am until the funeral at 1:00 pm at the church.

Memorial contributions may be given in Stan's name to St. Stephen's Lutheran Church 6874 Midway Road, Metropolis, IL 62960 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38501.
