Stanley was born on March 15, 1947, in Rig, WV, the son of the late Elvy P. and Nellie Evans Barr. Stan was a 1965 graduate of Yorktown High School in Arlington, following graduation he enlisted in the United States Army, and then later worked for the United States Postal Service. Most of all, Stan enjoyed horse racing, where he would go to the Charles Town Racetrack.
He is survived by his sister: Peggy Barr of Burke, VA; and his brother: Gale Barr (Brenda) of Capon Springs, WV; nieces: Sharon Owens, Karen Herring Garvin (Paul), & Chrissy Barr (Herb); nephews: Eddie Barr, David Barr, Robert L. Barr, Jr. (Janice), Blaine (Bud) Herring (Donnalyn), & Ronald Barr.
He is preceded in death by two brothers: Elwood P. Barr & Robert L. Barr; and a nephew: Michael Barr.
A funeral service will be held at Loy-Giffin Funeral Home & Crematory in Wardensville, WV on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Officiating will be Rev. Michael Funkhouser. Interment will be held in the Newhouse Cemetery in Rig, WV at 2:00 PM.
