Gaynor Warren Vann, 84, of Shepherdstown, WV, died on Monday, January 5, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family.
Gaynor was born on January 1, 1942, in Strasburg, VA, the son of the late Leo and Hannah Markley Vann. Gaynor was a 1960 graduate of Strasburg High School, a graduate of Lord Fairfax Community College, and a veteran in the United States Army serving in the Vietnam war. He was a member of the Winchester Ruritan Club, and enjoyed yard work, hunting, and spending time with his family, especially with his grandsons.
Gaynor married Ruth Ann Westfall on May 2, 1965, in Wardensville, WV.
Surviving with his wife of 60 years are two daughters: Cheryl D. Vann of Shepherdstown, WV; Valerie K. McMoon and husband JJ, and two grandsons: Miles & Maxwell of Glen Allen, VA.
Gaynor is preceded in death by two brothers: Lennie Vann & Oliver "Lee" Vann and two sisters: Ora M. McDonald & Catherine Keller.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 11:00 AM, at the Wardensville United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Pastor Dennis Adams. Interment will follow in the Hebron cemetery with military rites being accorded by the United States Army.
Family will receive friends at the church an hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 330 Hospice Ln., Kearneysville, WV 25430.
