Duplaga, Stanley Rudolph, of Economy, passed away May 17, 2023 at the age of 93 after a brief illness. Born November 15, 1929 to Jozefa and Kazimierz Duplaga. He was the youngest brother of Peter, William, Joseph, George and Edward Duplaga.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Nancy (Kircher) Duplaga, his daughter, Stephanine and husband Andrew Fetzko, his daughter Melanie and husband Matthew Zorumski, and his son Stan and his wife Tara (Pescatore) Duplaga. He is also survived his four grandchildren, Leyton and Lexington Zorumski, Jake and Max Duplaga, as well as many other relatives and friends.
Born November 15, 1929, he was raised in Aliquippa and later attended both Aliquippa and Ambridge Schools. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He earned three degrees from the Univ. of Pittsburgh including a doctorate in education. He was exceptionally proud of his Polish heritage.
He taught high school for seven years in Tionesta, PA before coming to former Baden-Economy School District as a teacher and guidance counselor in 1962. He was appointed junior high principal in 1963 and supervising principal in 1965. In 1970, he as named superintendent of Baden-Economy School District and after districts merged with Ambridge School District, he served as assistant superintendent of Ambridge School District from 1971 until his retirement in 1996. He received the 1993 Instructional Leadership Award from the Tri-State Area School Study Council, a consulting group from the Univ. of Pittsburgh. After retirement, he served on the Ambridge School Board from 1998 to 2004.
Family will welcome friends on Sunday 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Schellhaas & Sons Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 1600 Stone Mansion Drive, Sewickley, PA 15143 (Franklin Park/Wexford). Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Luke the Evangelist Parish, Saints John & Paul Catholic Church.
