Stanley Mark Jones
Mark passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025. He was born September 30, 1953 and raised in Stone Mountain. It was love at first sight with his wife Marsha (Sumner). They were married for 45 years. Together they had two sons: Jesse (Caiti) and Derek (Sue). He was endlessly proud of his sons and loved sharing with others what they were doing. The joy of his life were his five grandchildren: 1 grandson (Ethan) and 4 granddaughters (Ellie, Claire, Rosie, and Lucy). Mark's sons knew it was nearly impossible to get his attention when his grandchildren were around.
Mark loved being outside. His love for fishing was known to anyone who spent more than five minutes with him. He was always looking for a new place to "drown a worm". He loved baseball and talking about the Braves, especially with his sons. Mark loved reading and learning about the Civil War and visiting battlefields such as Gettysburg. After he retired, Mark learned to play the guitar, always working to learn a new song to play for Marsha. He loved feeding and listening to the birds while sitting on the back porch. Mark loved his cats, both inside and outside, always making sure they were fed and had a warm place to sleep during the winter.
Mark was strong in his faith and confident in his salvation through Christ. He loved and supported his family and friends. Mark lived a wonderful life and has left a lasting and cherished legacy.
A Visitation Service will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Flanigan Funeral Home, Buford, GA.
