Mrs. Karen Marie Thomas Creech of Lilburn, Georgia received her angel wings Sunday, November 2, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Linwood "Sam" Creech.
Mrs. Creech was born in Union City, Tennessee to Martha and James Thomas. She grew up in Jackson, Tennessee where she attended the City of Jackson schools and graduated from Jackson High School. Following high school, she attended the University of Tennessee and was a member of the ZTA Sorority. She later graduated from a private Methodist University, Lambert College. After graduating from college, began her career as an elementary school teacher within the DeKalb County School System in Georgia where she retired after 32 years. During her time as a school teacher she also obtained her master's degree from Georgia State University.
Karen was a loving mother, grandmother, and recently a great grandmother, as well as a devoted wife. Karen enjoyed spending time with family, socially entertaining friends, gardening, reading and especially Christmas.
She is survived by her daughter, DeeAnna Cole of Roswell, Georgia; son, Shane Creech and daughter-in-law Kelly Creech of Buford, Georgia; Four grandchildren, Brady Cole of Watkinsville, Georgia; Mackenzie Creech, twins Micah and Noah Creech, all of Buford, Georgia; One great granddaughter, Hazel Cole of Watkinsville, GA.
She is also survived by two brothers, Jimmy Thomas of Everett, Washington and Joe Thomas of Powder Springs, Georgia. She also had two nephews, Mike and Jake Thomas and one niece, Kate Woll, all of metro Everett, Washington.
Cremation services will be performed as she wished.
A celebration of Karen's life will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2025 at 2 PM at the Chapel on Lanier/Lake Lanier Islands in Buford, Georgia. Family and friends are invited to share stories, laughter, and love in her memory. Casual attire is welcome.
