Stanley Karoly

Stanley Karoly, age 76, of Rockaway Township, New Jersey, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at his home in Rockaway Township, New Jersey.
Stanley was born in New York, New York to the late Adolph and Sally Karoly, and was raised in the Lower East Side. Throughout his adolescence, Stanley showed great perseverance and determination by selling newspapers, shining shoes, and driving taxis. After graduating high school, he furthered his education, eventually earning his Masters Degree. Stan entered the workforce as an Electrical Engineer and proudly retired as the Chief Electrical Engineer for the NYC Transit Authority in 2021.
Stan met the love of his life, Irene, in the mid seventies and they were married soon after. The pair resided in Astoria until 1988, when their family moved to Rockaway, NJ. Stan enjoyed playing paddle ball and tennis, and taking long walks where he would cheerfully greet the children and dogs of the neighborhood.
"Karolys never give up, they keep on going" is our family motto.
In addition to his parents Boomie and Sally, Stanley is preceded in death by his uncles Sydney, Henry and Abraham; his aunts Esther, Frieda, Angie, and recently, his cousin Mimi.
He is survived by his cherished wife of almost 50 years, Irene Karoly; two children: Sotos Karoly and Patricia Karoly; two grandchildren: Genesis and Makarios, who lovingly referred to him as Pappou; one brother: Jeffrey (Louisa); as well as his niece and nephew: Francis and Jeffrey
A Graveside Service will be held Thursday, May 22, 2025, 10:00 AM at Marcella Union Cemetery.
