Stanley Len Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, Inc. - Colchester on Dec. 11, 2025.
Stanley Joseph Len of East Haddam passed away on December 5, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of quiet strength, devotion, and love. Born on October 10, 1942, in New Haven to the late Stanley and Veronica Len, he grew into a man whose hands built not only homes and harvests, but the foundation of a family who adored him.

After high school, Stanley followed his natural talent and determination into a life of craftsmanship, starting his own business and becoming a respected carpenter. He also proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. In 1968, he married the love of his life, Lynne, beginning a partnership built on loyalty and deep affection. Together they raised two children, Matthew and Melissa, who were his pride and joy.

Stanley was most at home outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing and working the land, often surrounded by the beauty he cultivated through his flowers and vegetables. But above all else, he cherished time spent with his family. His grandchildren knew him as "Daddy Ga," a name spoken with excitement and affection. Drew and Mia especially shared countless adventures with him: rides on the tractor to cut down the family Christmas tree, thrilling runs down the "black diamond" sledding hill he created just for them, and patient, joyful afternoons spent learning to ride their bikes without training wheels. He loved to watch Mia dance and Drew play soccer. These moments were the pieces of the legacy he built- memories rooted in love, laughter and encouragement.

One of Stan's proudest achievements was building his daughter Melissa's home alongside his best friend Tommy, on his own property in East Haddam. It was a testament to his skill, his generosity, and desire to keep his family close.

Stan will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his wife, Lynne of East Haddam; his son, Matthew, of York Harbor, Maine; his daughter, Melissa, and her spouse, Jeff Swan, of East Haddam; his brother, Richard; his grandchildren Mia, Drew, Tyler and Caitlin; and a wide circle of extended family and friends touched by his warmth and spirit.

Arrangements are in the care of Aurora McCarthy Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Friday, December 12, from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11am. at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Colchester. Those wishing to share a memory or offer condolences to the family are invited to visit their online tribute page.
