STANLEY NELSON Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hamilton Funeral Homes-Rock Chapel in Braham on Dec. 7, 2025.
Stanley Eugene Nelson, of Braham, passed away on Friday, December 5th, 2025, at GracePointe Crossing Assisted Living in Cambridge. He was 95 years old.

Stanley was born on November 18, 1930, in Oakland, Nebraska, to Albin and Swea (Anderson) Nelson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Stan attended and graduated from Braham High School. After graduation, he worked as a mechanic for Floyd Nelson, farmed with his parents, worked as a school janitor at Braham High School, and worked in construction. Of all the jobs he held, construction was Stan's favorite. He started his own construction company in 1954 and took great pride in the houses, churches, and sheds he and his team built.

Stan was also proud of his 1948 Buick Roadmaster, which he had taught himself to drive. On September 25, 1954, Stan married the love of his life, Evelyn Onifer, at the Braham Evangelical Lutheran Church. Together, they welcomed four wonderful children: Kurt, Karen, Nancy, and Duane. Stan felt truly blessed as he watched his kids grow up, reveling in every joyful moment spent with them.

In addition to his family, Stanley had a real sweet tooth for apple pie and loved attending his kids' basketball and baseball games. Whether watching his children, grandchildren, or the Minnesota professional teams, Stanley was always there. His legacy shines through in the strength, love, laughter, and dry wit he shared with everyone who had the joy of knowing him. His memory will forever be in the hearts of all those who knew him.

Stanley was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Evelyn.

He is survived by his children: Karen (Stanley) Stelzer, Nancy, Kurt (Lucy), and Duane (Cathy); grandchildren: Shawn, Kristy, Brandon, Anna, Jennifer, Scott, Tim, and Michael; 12 great grandchildren, as well as many other relatives and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 11th, 2025, at the Braham Ev. Lutheran Church with Pastor Suzanne Begin officiating.

A livestream is available on the church's Facebook page.

Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment will be in the Rice Lake Cemetery in Braham.

Memorials are preferred to the Braham Ev. Lutheran Church.

A Luncheon will follow the service.

As a youth I was a neighbor to the Nelsons. I remember Stan as a grown up big kid. He even baby sat us once. There were five of us. My parents were Francis (Casey) and Edna Kays.
