Stanley Albert Paul, a man whose zest for life was as savory as his perfectly grilled steaks, has left us with a legacy of laughter and a symphony of memories. Born on January 23, 1955, in the bustling town of Evansville, IN, Stanley embarked on his grand journey, which, after a life well-lived, came to a gentle close in Booneville, IN, on November 18, 2025.

Stanley's early days at Reitz Memorial, Class of '73, were just the appetizer for a life that was as full-flavored as his choice cuts in the meat department at Schnucks, where he reigned supreme as the "Meatmaster". His colleagues knew him as the man who could carve up a side of beef with the precision of a surgeon and the flair of a maestro. A proud member of the Labor Union for Meat Cutters, he was as sharp as his favorite boning knife and twice as dependable.

Off the clock, Stanley was a maestro of a different kind, with a rhythm in his soul that could only be expressed through the beat of his drums. He was a man who could find the groove in anything from the psychedelic rock of The Doors to the intricate rhythms of Rush, and the jazz fusion of George Duke and Chick Corea. His record collection was as eclectic as his interests, with each album telling a story of a moment, a memory, or a melody that moved him.

Stanley's home life was a symphony of joy and jest. Together with his wife, Ruth Paul, who he spent many wonderful years with, Stanley had two children, Jessica (Jason) Barnes and Steven (Alison) Paul, who were his pride and joy. His teachings, as a father, were as unconventional as his collection of model cars and records. He encouraged them to be as unique as a rare vinyl pressing and as successful as his meat marinades. His grandchildren, Carys and Iris Barnes, will no doubt inherit his quirky sense of humor and his green thumb, which could make even the most stubborn of plants sway to the rhythm of his care.

His siblings, Barbara Morrison, Phillip "Andrew" Paul, Bernie Paul, Pat Paul and Mary "Sissy" Huth, along with his sister, Rebecca Grill, and brother, Steven Paul, who predeceased him, can attest to his larger-than-life personality. Stanley never met a stranger, only friends he hadn't shared a steak or a story with yet. His conversations were as engaging as his drum solos, and his curiosity was as boundless as his love for his family.

Stanley's pets, Charlie and Rosie, were his loyal companions, always by his side, whether he was fishing, grilling, or just enjoying the simple pleasure of a sunny day. They, along with his many friends and family, will miss the warmth of his presence and the light of his spirit.

As we bid farewell to Stanley Albert Paul, let us remember him not with sorrow, but with the joy and laughter he brought into our lives. Let us crank up the tunes, fire up the grill, and celebrate a life that was as rich and fulfilling as the jazz chords he adored. Stanley, you were truly one of a kind, and your melody will play on in our hearts forever.

A celebration of Stanley's life will take place at Sunset Funeral Home on Saturday, November 22, 2025. Visitation will begin at 2pm, with a service to follow at 4pm.

I recalled that I have an Ekrich wristwatch in a box that Stanley gave me years ago during one of many times we worked together- when I look at it, I´ll always think fondly of him! He so loved his family, his profession, and customers! I miss my friend. Praise God for Stanley, Ruthie, their great kids and grandkids!!!

I'm so grateful to have known Stanley. He took me under his wing in my early 20's and became a true mentor and father figure. He taught me how to cut meat, but he also taught me how to carry myself around the shop. I'll always remember the hot coffee we shared during the early morning shifts in the cold meat shop at the original Newburgh store. We'd talk about life, but mainly our mutual interest in different bands. Thank you Stanley for everything you passed on to me. My deepest condolences to the family.
