Stanley Resar Obituary

On Sunday morning, July 9, 2023, St. Peter had a new arrival at the pearly gates to heaven. He was startled and yelled "What do we have here " and God responded, "Let him in, it's only Stan."Stan was different, unique, and maybe a rebel without a cause. Never a leader, and definitely not a follower. He marched to his own drum. He was a Michigan football fan (although I don't think he ever even took a step in the state) just to piss us off.Stan's family wanted everyone to know that he was an all-conference lineman at Midview High School and the 1977 team got voted into Midview's Football Hall of Fame. He was great at darts and king on a "Pac man" tabletop. Stan started his own roofing business, but his greatest accomplishments in life were being a great son, brother, and friend to all that knew him â€" loyal to a fault.Stan was in a serious motorcycle accident in September, 2005. How he survived that and many other mishaps during his life only God knows. His last eleven years were spent in Kensington Nursing Home in an electric wheelchair â€" never to walk or talk clearly again. The last three years they took away his electric wheelchair because he was always escaping and going to his favorite watering hole, or Discount Drug Mart to buy candy and lottery tickets.Stan realized that life will go on without him. We still have to get up and cut the grass, wash the car, or take out the garbage, but he hoped that he will be remembered for being a great guy and not for his frail body or shortcomings. Stan's family wants to thank the staff at Kensington Nursing Home and the Lucy Idol Center for treating Stan with dignity and love.I know that Stan would have wanted to thank P.J. and Joe for the years of overseeing his many needs and wants; his sisters who often took him to the movies; and the rest of his family who stood behind him to the end.Stan leaves behind his sisters, Beth (Rich) Kocsis, Elaine Coker, Nancy (Jim) Pasenow, P.J. (Joe) Ferut, and Rose Weigl; his brothers, Ted (Paulette), Dave (Mary), and Ray (Tammy); along with many nieces and nephews. Waiting for him are his parents, Larry and Mary Resar; brother, Joe; brother-in-law Rick Weigl; and a host of others. The family will receive friends at the Reichlin Roberts Bollinger Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland St., Elyria on Wednesday from 5-7pm. Please meet at St. Mary Church, 320 Middle Ave., Elyria on Thursday at 10am for the mass followed by the inurnment at St. Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be forwarded to the Lucy Idol Center, 435 Nicholson Rd., Vermilion, OH 44089

Resar Family, Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Stan was one of my favorites. He always left me with a smile on my face (probably because he was doing something silly or just unbelievable)! He will never be forgotten. Kate Schubert Carter
