Stanley Rice, 87, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2022, at Bethesda Home of Aberdeen. His wishes were to be cremated with no formal services at this time.
Stanley was born February 25th, 1935 at Sisseton South Dakota, to Norman and Agnes (Hellveng)Rice. After spending his school years in Sisseton, he enlisted in the SD Army National Guard. Stanley married Patricia Lureen in the fall of 1956 at Browns Valley, MN and raised 4 children, Jerome"Jerry", David, Darla, and Mike.
During his time in the National Guard, Stanley served as Sergeant of the Mess Hall in Aberdeen. He was also a Boy Scout Leader and head cook for many years.
Stanley worked as a carpenter for most of his life and enjoyed spending time with his family in the great outdoors camping and fishing. He would always be the one to wake up early and make breakfast for everyone. He also loved to garden, especially at the Aberdeen Community Gardens.
Grateful for having shared Stanley's life are his wife Patricia; his three sons: Jerome"Jerry"Rice of Aberdeen, David (Sherry)Rice of Terre Haute IN., and Mike(Cheryl), Rice of Aberdeen, Daughter Darla Wick of Aberdeen, seven grandchildren; Jeremy, Jaren, Brandon, Jordan, Brittany, Lucas, and Joshua (Stacie), seven Great-Grandchildren, and one sister, Alice Marie Kadoun of Breckenridge, MN.
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents Norman and Agnes, and one brother, Luverne.
Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory, Aberdeen, is handling arrangements.
