EAST GREENBUSH - Stanley Soroko, 82, of East Greenbush, passed away, Saturday, May 31 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Stanley was born May 18, 1943, in Poland, the son of the late Joseph Soroko and Janina (Minowicz) Soroko. He moved to America when he was 21. He worked as a Machinist for Fort Orange Paper Company for 36 years before retiring. Stanley was an avid fisherman and enjoyed taking out his family and friends on deep sea fishing trips. Stanley was well know for his incredible fish chowder and fish fries that became family favorites bringing everyone together. He looked forward to his weekly bowling league and poker games, where he enjoyed the company of close friends, family and a little friendly competition. Stanley found joy in tending his garden and loved taking his grandchildren berry picking, simple moments that became treasured memories. Whether it was school, sports, or a late night pickup, Grandpa was always there, dependable, generous, and never too busy to help.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Soroko; his children, Mark (Sharron) Soroko, Paul (Tanya) Soroko, Christine (Bryan) Lashway and Peter (Christine) Soroko; and sisters, Irene Dubiel and Helen Michalski. He was the beloved grandfather of Skylar, Tenley, Nicholas, Kendra, Justin, Camden and Ashlyn.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial services at the Immanuel Church 274 Columbia Turnpike, Rensselaer, N.Y., on June 21, at 1 p.m. A luncheon will be provided following the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the American Heart Association, or the Immanuel Church in his memory.
