Stanley Stump, a dedicated family man and esteemed member of the equestrian community, passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at the West Tennessee State Veterans Home in Humboldt, TN.
Born on March 22, 1929, in Bucks County, PA, the son of the late Charles and Alma Bryan Stump, Stanley exemplified a life dedicated to service, family, and a passion for American Quarter Horses.
Stanley's career was marked by thirty-four years of dedicated service with American Olean Tile, where he retired as the Jackson Plant Manager. His journey in tile manufacturing began in Pennsylvania in 1953 and continued with significant achievements, including his return to the company in 1981 after a brief venture into business ownership with Aglasco Glass Company. His commitment to his work was only matched by his devotion to his family.
Stanley's passion for horses was evident from a young age. He began training horses at the age of sixteen in Texas and later moved on to breeding and showing Quarter Horses. His involvement in the equestrian world included a significant role as a member of the Board of the West Tennessee Quarter Horse Association. This dedication to raising and showing horses enriched his life and the lives of those around him.
A proud veteran, Stanley served in the United States Army, entering service in 1950 and serving in Germany before his discharge in 1952. His military service was an important part of his identity, reflecting his commitment to his country.
Stanley is survived by his beloved daughters, Sandy Jarnigan and Debbie Grace, along with her husband Jesse. His legacy continues with his cherished granddaughters, Lindsey Landers and her husband Chris, Jamie Gilchrist and husband Jason, Melissa Hargett, and Michelle Webb and her husband Brian. He also leaves behind his beloved great-grandchildren: Jacob Bowles, Ry Gilchrist, Caden Landers, Josie Anderson, Leah Landers, Michael Webb, Macy Landers, Blayde Webb, and Jameson Hargett. Additionally, he is survived by his sister, Shirley Krauss.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Fay Lorraine Heebner Stump, who passed away in 2001, his brother, Norman Stump and his great-grandchildren, Cooper, Mason, and Levi Hargett,
SERVICES: The community is invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at Arrington Funeral Directors beginning at 1:00 p.m. and continuing until 2:00 p.m. followed by a graveside service at Browns Cemetery at 2:30 PM.
