Stanley F. Szczesny, "Stan", a 20 year resident of Aurora, IL and formerly longtime of Chicago, IL, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2025. He was born January 24, 1930 in Chicago.
Stan is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Rose (nee Dziedzic); his loving children, Cynthia Murray, Karen (Steve) Welsh, Ken (Melissa) Szczesny, Barbara (Darec) Kleczka; his adoring grandchildren, Maxine, Samantha, and Leah Murray; Lucas( Karsen), Kyle, and Ethan Welsh; Colin and Amelia Szczesny; Scarlett, Mitchell, and Josie Kleczka.
Stan was born and raised in Chicago. He graduated from Washburne Trade School, where he studied tool and die manufacturing. He entered the U.S. Army and served honorably from 1951 to 1953.
After graduating from the police academy, Stan began his career with the Chicago Police Department in 1954. He served for 30 years, retiring in 1984. A second-degree black belt in Judo and a first-degree black belt in Jujitsu, Stan began teaching self-defense to police recruits in 1968.
In retirement, he enjoyed working as a bailiff at the Dirksen Federal Building in Chicago and later provided court security during the years he lived in Tucson, Arizona. Stan was a devoted fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears and loved playing softball and bowling.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 18, 4:00-8:00 PM at the Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. All are welcome to gather for the Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, December 19, 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 701 S. Eola Rd., Aurora. A private family inurnment will be at Assumption Cemetery, Wheaton, at a later date.
