Stanley Wayne Widmer passed away September 21, 2024, peacefully surrounded by family.
Stan was born in Oshkosh, WI to Albert and Mabel Widmer. Stan graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1955. He married Paula Larson in Oshkosh in 1958. Stan attended college in Milwaukee where he finished a degree in Industrial Design. Stan proudly served in the United States Army Reserves for 10 years as an M-48 Tank Commander.
Stan and Paula moved to Minneapolis in 1962 where Stan worked at Graco for ten years before launching his design consulting business in 1972. In 1979 he moved his business to Staples where he and Paula raised their kids residing in a home he built on the west shore of Fawn Lake south of Staples. Stan and Paula continued to run their business, Widmer Associates, for the next several decades serving clients from all over the United States. Stan was awarded dozens of patents for his innovations in mechanical design and was awarded a contract with the United States Department of Defense on a project following the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States.
Stan will be missed by his children, Amy (Darin), Scott and six grandchildren, Trevor, Andrew, Ashley, Megan, Thomas and Jonathan, several nieces and nephews, and Lookalike the cat.
Stan was preceded in death by his loving wife Paula of 59 years, parents, brother Ken Widmer, sister Joyce Christian and daughter-in-law Jill Widmer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Friday October 4, 2024, at 12:00PM, with a visitation at 11:00AM. Interment will be October 7th, 2024, at Lakeview Memorial Park at 11:00 AM, in Oshkosh, WI. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN.
