Stanton Lee Hardy, M.D., a beloved physician and cherished member of the community, will be remembered for his remarkable life and dedication to others. Born on December 9, 1934, in Elvins, Missouri, to the late Amos Owen and Mary Louise (Meyer) Hardy, Stanton passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, at the age of 90, surrounded by his loving family at his residence.

Stanton's journey began in his hometown, where he graduated from Elvins High School at the young age of 16. He furthered his education at Flat River Junior College, then completed his Bachelor's of Science in Chemistry at the University of Missouri. He was then accepted into the medical school at the University of Missouri, proudly graduating as part of their first medical class. His commitment to service led him to enlist in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Germany, as a Captain providing care to his fellow servicemen.

Upon returning to the United States, Stanton purchased the practice of Dr. Gaebe and later formed a partnership with Dr. William Paul Dennis in Desloge. Over his 40-year medical career, he became a pillar of the community, known for his compassion and skill as a physician. His former practice, now proudly serving as the home of the Desloge Police Department.

In his earlier years, Stanton received the distinguished Eagle Scout Award, proudly adorned as a Medicine Man during a memorable Court of Honor atop the Elvins Chat Dump. This early achievement showcased his adventurous spirit and leadership qualities, which he carried throughout his life.

Stanton was a member of United Memorial Methodist Church in Farmington along with a member of Elvins Ionic Lodge #154 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason.

Stanton truly enjoyed his retirement. He could be found playing the piano, singing, reading history or poetry and traveling extensively with his beloved wife, Jean. He was extremely proud to have led both an Explorer Scout Troop and Desloge Boy Scout Troop 564. He was also a volunteer doctor to the local Golden Gloves and on the Board of Directors of the local Audubon Society, among many other activities.

He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of 58 years, Jean Ellen (Marler) Hardy, whom he married after dating for only 6 weeks; and one sister, Marilyn (Hardy) Scheffel and husband Ken.

Stanton is survived by his children, Stephanie Chilingerian and husband Raffy, Brian Hardy and fiancée Kayla, and Katherine Hardy; nine grandchildren, Lena Katherine and Harry Chilingerian, Madison, Alexandra and Blake Stanton Hardy, Sophia and Anna Caroline Hardy-Senkel, Collins Jean and Colbie Hardy; brother in-law, Steve Marler and wife Cathy; several nieces and nephews; best friend Michael Brookreson; and adopted family of caregivers, Frankie Jones, Shanona Jones Ketcherside, little Sophie Jones and her dog Tutu; other family members and friends also survive.

Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 9:00 AM until the time of Masonic service at 10:45AM followed by funeral service at 11:00 AM. Pastor Shannon Davis will be officiating with full military honors to follow. In this time of reflection and remembrance, we will come together to pay tribute to a man who devoted his life to healing and serving others. Through this celebratory gathering, we will cherish the joy he brought into our lives and the countless contributions he made to the field of healthcare and his community.
