Starr Delores Brewer, 71, of
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away on February 11, 2026. She was born on November 24, 1954, in
St. Petersburg, Florida, to Alvin McKinzie and Myrtie Bell (Williams) McKinzie.
Starr was a woman who never went unnoticed. Affectionately known as the "crazy lady" and the "flip flop lady," she carried a spark that lit up every room she entered. Often called the "Bell of the Ball," Starr had a mysterious charm and a playful spirit. She loved to tease, pull pranks, and keep those around her laughing. A true jokester at heart, she was the life of the party and never missed an opportunity to have fun.
Her heart for others was evident in the way she lived. Starr loved volunteering at the food pantry in Wellston alongside her daughter-in-law, Donna - lovingly referred to by Starr as "My Donna." She had a servant's heart and was always ready to lend a hand. She would share her food without hesitation and was the kind of person who would "give the shirt off her back" if she could. Helping others wasn't just something she did - it was who she was.
Starr worked for a time at a casino and later enjoyed spending her days playing bingo with her sister Barbara at the senior center, where she made cherished friends. She loved browsing Goodwill, hunting for treasures, and expressing herself through tie-dye, butterflies, sunflowers, and anything that reminded her of the ocean she adored.
Family was everything to Starr. She loved her three sons deeply and was immensely proud of each of them. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild were her greatest joy. She especially delighted in Halloween, embracing the chance to dress up and act like a child again. She loved motorcycles, riding in semi-trucks, and making memories wherever life took her.
In true Starr fashion, when her son Russell was getting married, she crafted a ball and attached a chain to it as a playful "ball and chain" gift - a perfect example of her humor and love wrapped into one.
On May 13, 2012, Starr married Russ Brewer. Their time together was filled with love and laughter until his passing on January 17, 2014.
Starr is survived by her devoted sons: Herschel Smith (Donna Jacobs), Russell Smith (Christa), and Lloyd Smith; her beloved grandchildren: Skye (named for Starr - "Starr and Skye"), Corey, Julie, Jeremiah, Trinity, Shelby, Evan "Bright Eyes," Justin "Smiley," Trevor, Tyler, and Colby; her cherished great-grandchildren: Devonte, Cydneia, Draco, Estella, Bree, Gia, Gannon, and Jaylynn; her great-great-granddaughter, Mia; her sisters, Barbara Antisdel and Betty Ringo; and her beloved companion and partner in laughter and life, Lewis Matula, who held a special place in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin McKinzie and Myrtie Bell (Williams) McKinzie; her husband, Russ Brewer; her sister, Mary Burgess; her brother, Richard McKinzie; and her brother-in-law, Bill Antisdel.
A memorial service honoring Starr's colorful and spirited life will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Moore Funeral and Cremation.
