Our beautiful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Stella Lopez, passed away peacefully at home on July 13, 2024 at the age of 82. Stella was born on August 12, 1941 in Las Cruces, New Mexico to Pedro and Eugenia Duran. She was the youngest of nine children.
In December of 1962, she married, Albert Lopez, and they had three daughters, Cynthia, Priscilla, Janet, and a son Albert Jr. Stella was a devoted mother that worked hard to provide for her family. For many years she worked as a caregiver for children and youth with special needs and disabilities. She also had a passion for cooking and enjoyed her job as the head cook at a nursing home for several decades. She was an amazing cook and was known to all as “The Tamale Lady”. Stella was always kind and caring to everyone she knew. She welcomed you into her home with a cup of coffee and a delicious meal. No one ever left with an empty stomach.
Our family will treasure all of the precious memories we have of our beautiful, kind, and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
