Grove Funeral HomeStella Jean Moon McKinney passed away at her home in Hancock, MD on Monday, August 11, 2025.
Stella was born Wednesday, October 25, 1939, in Washington D.C. to the late Sherman and Stella Mackenzie Moon.
Many still call her by her childhood nickname Ding which became Aunt Ding to many of her nieces and nephews
Stella worked as a Key Punch Operator in Washington, DC for Hahn Shoe Company and DISCUS Distilled Spirits Council before retiring to Hancock, MD.
Stella Loved all animals. She was especially fond of dogs. She continued to miss her beloved boxers Mia and Daisy.
She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church.
Stella is survived by two brothers, William and wife Edith Moon, Serman and wife Terrie Moon, numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was greatly loved and will be missed by each and every one of us.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by two sisters, Marge and husband Ed Solomon, Kathryn and husband Marvin Ferris.
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, August 18, 2025, at 11:00a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church with visitation one hour prior. Celebrant Father Jack Lombardi will officiate. Burial will follow at Damascus Cemetery, 717 Big Cove Tannery Road, Big Cove Tannery, PA 17212.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Stella’s name can be made to Adopt a Boxer Rescue, PO Box 154 Olyphant, PA 18447.
Arrangements were entrusted to Grove-Rogowski Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, MD 21750. Online condolences can be expressed to the family at www.grfuneralhome.net.
