Stella was born in Richey, Montana on February 24, 1932 to Henry Baese and Adena (Schmidt) Baese. Stella was youngest amongst 5 other siblings, Leroy, Duane, Rosie, Jason and Evelyn.

After high school Stella moved to Seattle, Washington where she married Milton Jacob Treftz. They had two children, Kurt B and Connie G. Milton and Stella divorced in 1970. Stella worked various positions, however she worked the longest for AT&T, in Seattle WA, San Francisco, California and Aurora, Colorado. She later remarried Mel McKenzie and later divorced. She then lived in Snohomish county WA, most notably in the town of Startup until about 2019 when she moved to La Conner, WA until shortly before her death.

Stella cherished her children and grandchildren and maintained contact with extended family. She loved sewing, baking and especially gardening. However, most of all she was a center-point of connection for a large extended family. Thank you, Stella.
