Stephan Anthony "Sonny" Baldovski, of Bark River, Michigan, was born on June 29, 1948, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, and passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025 in the comfort of his beloved cabin, surrounded by his children. Known simply as Sonny to all who loved him, he was a man of quiet strength, profound creativity, and steadfast devotion to his family.

Born to Steve Baldovski and Kay (Ranich) Baldovski, both first-generation Americans of Czechoslovakian and Croatian descent, Sonny carried forward his proud Slavic heritage as a second-generation American. This heritage shaped his values of resilience, independence, and deep familial love-values reflected in the countless photographs that filled his home, each a testament to the people he held dearest.

Sonny's life was marked by both service and artistry. As a veteran of the Vietnam War, he served his country with dignity and bore the lifelong imprint of sacrifice. Away from service, he expressed himself through art and craft-drawing, painting, and carving walking staffs-leaving behind creations that spoke of patience, imagination, and care.

Ever adventurous, Sonny spent time in Florida working as a commercial fisherman on the open sea, where the rhythm of the waves and the salt air seemed to suit his untamed spirit. Later, he set out on a gold-panning journey by bicycle all the way to California, driven by the same curiosity and independence that guided every chapter of his life.

In his later years, Sonny chose the quiet solitude of Bark River's wilderness, where he lived in harmony with the land. His cabin became a place of peace, memory, and reflection-a sanctuary where family, heritage, and the natural world intertwined.

Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Kay Baldovski; his sister, Mary Lynne Lambert; and his brother, Thomas P. Baldovski.

He is survived by his sister, Stephanie Henderson; his children, Cassandra K. Geib (Richard), Alexess A. Leemon (Kevin), Stephen T. Baldovski (Sabrina), and Chasity Marie Walding; as well as thirteen beloved grandchildren.

His life will be remembered for its independence, resilience, artistry, and devotion. His spirit endures in the stories shared by those who loved him, in the art he created, and in the lasting example of a life lived true to himself.

No public services are planned. Sonny will be laid to rest at a Veterans cemetery at a later date. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Baldovski family.
