Stephanie Gilbertson, age 35, of Erskine, MN, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 13th, at her home, with her family by her side, following a courageous battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 22nd, at Gary Lutheran Church in Gary, MN with Katie DeMarais, SAM officiating. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday (October 22nd) at the church. Stephanie Ann Gilbertson was born on January 2, 1990, in Twentynine Palms, California to parents Robert and Linda (Ranta) Gilbertson. She moved with her family to Gary, Minnesota at the age of 4, attended school in Fertile and graduated from Fertile-Beltrami High School in 2009.
Following high school, Stephanie worked in general maintenance at the Shooting Star Casino until 2017 and at Seven Clans Casino in Thief River Falls until 2023. She briefly lived in Oklee before moving in with her sister, Heather, in Erskine. She was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic colon cancer on October 8, 2024.
Stephanie enjoyed taking pictures of wildlife and her family, all-night movie marathons and going shopping. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Stephanie passed away peacefully on Monday, October 13th, at her home, with her family by her side, following a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 35 years.
Survivors include her parents, Robert and Linda Gilbertson of Ada, MN; grandparents, Ben and Joyce Gilbertson of Detroit Lakes, MN; brother, Tim (Kristin) Gilbertson of Twin Valley, MN; sister, Heather (Chad) Aschittino of Erskine; nine nieces and nephews, Saige, Cheyenne, Cameron, Adam, Lilly, Abby, Noah, Candace, and Jonah; adopted aunt, Julie Gevik of Fertile, MN; several aunts and uncles; great aunt, Rosie (Arlo) Glas of Strasburg, ND; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Arnold and Patricia Ranta; nephew, Robert James Gilbertson; adopted uncle, Jim Gevik; cousin, Cheryl Voeltz; and several other family members.
