A Time To Be Born
Stephanie Theresa Harrell was born on September 17, 1961, in Boston Mass at Boston City Hospital. She was the first born of three children to Robert Harrell Jr. and Norma Jeanette McCreary. Being the oldest child, Stephanie grew up with a lot of love from her grandparents and older cousins. Stephanie was born with congenital heart problems which made it difficult for her to associate with her peers during her younger years.
After Robert & Norma's marriage the family moved from Roxbury, Mass to the South end of Boston to the Cathedral Housing Projects. Her father was a professional dancer while Norma stayed at home to raise Stephanie and her two siblings Robert Harrell III and Stephen Norman Harrell. Stephanie was raised in the catholic faith and attended St. Francis Kindergarten, Cathedral Grammar School and graduated from Cathedral High School in 1980. Stephanie's father Robert Harrell Jr. passed away during her last year of high school.
A Time To Mature
While at Cathedral High school she made many friendships that lasted her entire adult life. During her early years she met her long time partner Adrian Garcia. Throughout her life she experienced many illnesses and operations due to her heart condition. There were no children from this union, but this made her an unusual and special aunt to her nieces and nephew and a devoted Godmother.
A Time To Soar
In the years that followed Stephanie worked at Seyfarth Shaw Law firm as a legal receptionist for more than a decade. Then transferred to the law firm of Goldstein and Manello. Recently Stephanie was employed at the Cam Neely House for cancer recovery as a Patient Service Representative. Because of her long history of medical problems, she was especially caring to the many patients visiting for follow up cancer treatments.
Stephanie & her partner Adrian traveled many times to the Caribbean on vacation alone and with close friends. Stephanie had a special affection for Prince and his music. She once traveled to visit a friend in Minnesota. While there she found out where Prince was living and her obsession with him led her to visit his home unannounced. Needless to say, he was unavailable. However her wish was granted when Prince visited Boston for a surprise concert on Lansdowne Street. She and her friends were at the foot of the stage when he singled her out, grabbed her hand and sang to her.
A Time To Reflect
As we look back on her life, she was a loving daughter, caring sister and loyal friend. She lived life on her own terms, was outspoken and fiercely stubborn. She enjoyed family gatherings and was famously known for her potato salad. Others included her like family as well as those outside her family. We love you Stephanie and will truly miss you.
A Time To Mourn
Stephanie passed away from severe heart complications on July 3, 2023, at Brigham's and Women's Hospital. She leaves the following to honor and cherish her memories: Mother Norma Jeanette Yeary, her long time partner Adrian Garcia, her brothers Robert Harrell III, Stephen Norman Harrell, her 4 nieces and nephew, her aunts Laconia McCreary-Rodgers of Texas and Nancy McCreary of Atlanta, her Aunt/cousin Kacey King, her uncle Randy McCreary of Florida as well as her many close cousins, extended family members, friends and her two cats.
