Stephanie Hoffer

DELPHOS -- Stephanie Jo Hoffer, age 68, passed away on October 5, 2025, at 7:15 pm, at Vancrest of Delphos. Stephanie was born on June 11, 1957, in Lima, OH, to Clair C. Crites, who lives in St. Marys, OH, and Carolyn J. (Cash ) Ruben, who preceded her in death. On July 18, 1982, she married Craig A. Hoffer, who survives in Lima, OH.

In addition to her husband, Stephanie is survived by her daughters: Sarah (Cory) Ley of Lima, OH, Sherry Hoffer of New Orleans, LA and Amanda McKercher of Lima, OH, her grandchildren: Jacob Ley, Anna Ley, Cara Ley, Chase McKercher, and Lewis Cheney Jr., sisters: Cindy Crites Mazza of Bradenton, Fl, and Laura Beth Ruben of Mexico. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Rick Crites and Gary Crites.

Stephanie was a 1975 graduate of Shawnee High School. She also earned an associate's degree in accounting from Northwest Business College. She was working at the Bargain Barn for her stepfather, Barry Ruben, when she met Craig, the love of her life. Once she and Craig were married, they had their daughters, and Stephanie was focused on raising her family. In 1992, she took a position as office manager for Woodlawn Cemetery, where she worked for 13 years. She then became the fiscal officer of Shawnee Township and worked there until she retired in 2015. Stephanie loved gardening, her dog, "Max" and spending time with her grandchildren.

There will be a funeral service held on Monday, October 13, 2025, at 1:00 pm at the Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Shawnee Chapel. Officiating the service will be Rev. Don Nichols. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery following the service.

Friends may visit on Monday from 11:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 pm at the Shawnee Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Deb's Dogs. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
