Stephanie Jackson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sarah L. Carter's Funeral Home - Southside on Dec. 28, 2025.
Stephanie M. Jackson was a woman of deep faith who loved the Lord with her whole heart and sought to serve Him through how she lived, loved, and poured into others. She was bold, funny, direct, and unforgettable. When Stephanie entered a room, she commanded attention not by force, but by presence. She was the life of every space she occupied, a natural motivator, and a woman who believed fiercely in people often before they believed in themselves.

Stephanie earned her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and later completed her Master of Education in Curriculum Design at Edward Waters University, reflecting her strong commitment to education and service. An educator by training and a social worker by calling, she dedicated her life to advocacy, empowerment, and uplifting individuals and communities. She had a special passion for speaking life into young people, encouraging them to see beyond their circumstances and step into their potential.

Stephanie was also a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, where she exemplified sisterhood, service, and leadership.

For the last eight years of her career, Stephanie worked at Year Up United, faithfully serving the mission of closing the opportunity divide. This work was deeply aligned with her life's purpose and passion for empowering young people to build meaningful futures, and it remained close to her heart until the very end. Stephanie was also hilarious and full of joy. She loved music and fashion, but above all else, she loved her family and friends deeply.

Stephanie was deeply loved and leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Estelle Byrden; her siblings, Ora Lee Byrden, Leroy Byrden, George Bernard Byrden, Lolita Denise Hill, Gary Eugene Hill, Martella Eugene Moore, Doris Jackson and the late Jeffrey Jackson; her special niece, Jenecia Byrden and nephew, Antonio Lewis Jr.; She is also deeply missed by her devoted friend and caregiver, Latonya Hines, who stood beside her with unwavering love and care, by her loyal dog, Sargent "Sarge" Jackson, who brought her great joy and comfort. and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends.

Stephanie was a fighter, a truth-teller, and a woman of conviction. She loved fully, gave generously, and lived intentionally. Her legacy is one of faith, strength, laughter, and impact, and her presence will continue to be felt in the lives she touched and the hearts she changed.
