Stephanie Kaye Lewis, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, departed this earthly life on May 21, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and unwavering strength. Born on November 4, 1961, to Lester and Velva Huggins, Stephanie was the eldest of four daughters, a role she embraced with grace and compassion throughout her life.

A woman of deep faith, Stephanie accepted Christ and was baptized at Rising Star Baptist Church in 1979, where she nurtured her spiritual journey for many years. In 2006, she became a cherished member of Higher Dimensions Baptist Church, where her son, Pastor DeAngelo Huggins, leads the congregation. Her commitment to her faith was evident in her daily life, as she made it a priority to uplift those around her, making everyone feel seen, loved, and at peace.

Stephanie's comforting presence was a gift to all who knew her. She shared a particularly special bond with her mother, Velva, with whom she enjoyed weekly shopping trips and daily phone conversations. Their connection was a testament to the love and support that defined Stephanie's family life.

In 1981, Stephanie married the love of her life, Henri Lewis, and together they built a beautiful life filled with joy and laughter over their more than 40 years of marriage. Stephanie was a devoted family member, always ready to lend a helping hand, whether it was babysitting her nieces and nephews or assisting her sister with her food truck, which she affectionately referred to as her "part-time summer job."

Professionally, Stephanie began her career at KU Medical Center in the early 1980s before moving to St. Louis to work in the banking industry. She later returned to Kansas City, where she continued her career at St. Luke's Hospital, demonstrating her dedication and commitment to her work.

Stephanie's love for life was evident in her passions. She enjoyed shopping, dancing, and was known for her smooth two-stepping alongside her husband, Henri. Their shared moments on the dance floor were a reflection of their deep connection and joy in each other's company.

Stephanie is preceded in death by her father, Lester Huggins, and her beloved grandparents. She leaves behind her devoted husband, Henri Lewis; her loving mother, Velva Huggins; her son, Pastor DeAngelo Huggins (Gwen); her cherished granddaughter, Shay Wright; and her three sisters, Victoria Thomas (Damon), LeAnn Perkins, and LeAndra Elijah (Robert). She is also survived by her nieces, Keisha Muchiri (Peter), Damesheon Thomas, and Tiffany Elijah (Anthony); her nephews, Simeon Perkins and Saadique Perkins; her great-nephew, David Thomas; her great-nieces, Lailah Elijah, Kacie Muchiri, and Alaina Muchiri; and a host of family and friends who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.

Stephanie Kaye Lewis will be remembered for her kindness, love, giving spirit, and unwavering support. Her legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
