Stephean Gentry Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Beasley-Wood/Geyer-Quillin Funeral Home - Mena on Jan. 19, 2026.
Stephean Randall Gentry, resident of Sherman, Texas, passed away on January 15, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on September 15, 1947, in Mena, Arkansas, to Oden and Onetta Gentry, Steve grew up in a loving family of seven, four boys, two parents, and one girl.

Steve is survived by his loving wife, Donna; his son, Brett Gentry; two grandchildren, Jacqueline and Justen; his brother, Monte Gentry; his sister, Anna and her husband Michael McClane; his sister-in-law, Melanie Gentry; his stepson, Ryan Richardson; numerous nieces and nephews, and too many dear friends to count.

Steve was predeceased by his father, Oden Gentry; his mother, Onetta Roberts Gentry; his first wife Pat O'Shields Gentry. He was also preceded by his brothers, Larry Gentry and Terry Gentry and sisters-in-law Vickie Gentry and Glenda Gentry.

Steve was well known as a good man who worked hard and took care of his family, including his elderly mother and father. He was an automobile mechanic like no other and he owned and operated his own business for decades.

Steve was very involved with several organizations. He was a lifetime Mason member both in Texas and Arkansas, Officer and member of Sherman Elks Lodge, Sherman Jaycees and Boy Scout leader. His other interests included bass fishing and hunting pheasants and deer. Although in later years he considered the deer on his property to be pets.

Music played an important role in Steve's life. Over the years, he developed into a talented singer and guitarist. Some of his happies days were when he and his group played songs for the elderly in the evenings at retirement facilities and other venues.

Steve was a devout Christian and until he moved back to Texas in October 2025, he served as an elder of the Church of Christ in Wickes, Arkansas.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at the Grannis Cemetery in Grannis, Arkansas. Sam Varner will be officiating the services under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.
