Stephen L Allred passed away peacefully on January 6th 2026 in Delta Utah. Steve, affectionately known as “Officer Friendly” was born July 16th, 1944 in Delta Utah to Ervin and Olive Taylor Allred.

When asked if he grew up in Delta he would say “I was raised in Delta I never grew up”. Steve attended school in Delta, graduating from Delta High School (go Rabbits) in May of 1962. In September 1962 Steve enrolled in Salt Lake barber college, graduating in April of 1963. The accepted a position at Mel’s barbershop on the campus of Utah State University in Logan Utah. Steve worker at Mel’s barbershop until October of 1964 at which time he accepted a mission call for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in the South African mission. He returned home honorably in April of 1967.

Continued by his children: After dad arrived home, he started dating mom (Ellen Kaye Anderson) after meeting at the A&W that his parents owned. They had a long-distance romance while she attended school in Cedar City and he lived in Logan. They married June 14th 1968 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were the parents of 5 children-Shenagh, Greg, Karalee, Wade and Brenton. Dad started his career in Law enforcement March 1979 and retired June 2006. I think everyone in Millard County has a story about an “encounter” with Dad whether good or bad. Dad also taught Hunter safety for 50 years, the longest in the state of Utah. I know at least one of his kids wouldn’t have passed without his help. Dad loved camping, riding his side by side and spending as much time as possible in the Ponderosas. Everyone knew which spot was “Steve’s spot”. Dad had several callings in the church but his favorite was with the primary children. Every Sunday the kids would line up to get their mint from Steve. He also never missed a birthday and would send them all cards. Steve loved serving in the baptistery at the Payson Temple. He only gave it up because his health wouldn’t allow him to continue. He would say “I feel closer to Ellen when I’m there”. Dad was an amazing grandpa, great grandpa and will be greatly missed. Thank you to the staff at Millard County Care Center, Oak City 2nd ward and the wonderful town of Oak City.

Steve is survived by his children Shenagh (Jody), Greg (Holly), Karalee (Jeff) and Wade. 15 Grandchildren 4 great grandchildren, Brother Howard Allred, Sister Linda Grygla, many sister and brother in laws. Proceeded in death by wife Ellen, son Brenton, Mother and Father-Ervin and Olive, Brother-in-law Kevin Anderson and Robert Grygla.

Funeral services will be Monday, January 12, 2026 at 11:00 AM in the Oak City 2nd ward building with a viewing on Sunday, January 11, 2026 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and prior to the funeral from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. The funeral stream is available at :https://youtube.com/live/Rq-gi-_EqBU?feature=share
