Stephen P. Andrejko, 81, a longtime resident of the Riverside Park area in Wilkes-Barre, passed away peacefully in the presence of his loving family on April 29, 2025.
Born Oct. 16, 1943, in Hanover Township, he was a son of the late John J. and Viola Azarsky Andrejko. Steve was a graduate of Hanover High School, Class of 1962. He honorably served our country as a sailor of the Navy for four years during the Vietnam War, earning the rank of signalman third class.
Steve was employed through Laborer's International Union, Local 215, now Local 130, before retiring due to disability in 1979. Steve was a regular communicant at the Church of St. Aloysius, and volunteered his time at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre Hospital.
His brothers: Leo, John and Paul Andrejko; sisters, Viola Andrejko, Ann Kraynak and Charlotte Kratz; and his best friend and companion, Miss Holly, preceded him in death.
His daughters: Corinne and her husband, Jason Gilsky, of Mountain Top; and Stephanie Andrejko and her fiancé, Adam O'Hara, of Wilkes-Barre; sister, Christine Andrejko, of Hanover Township; cousins: George, Ricky and Steven, who were like brothers to him; and other family and friends will miss him very much.
Steve's entire family is grateful for the loving, compassionate care he received from Commonwealth Home Health, especially from Sarah and Meghan; and the Allied Services Meade Street staff.
A celebration of Steve's life will take place on Monday, with visitation from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at McLaughlin's, 142 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre, followed by a 10 a.m. funeral Mass in the Church of St. Aloysius, Wilkes-Barre.
Donations to the St. Vincent de Paul Kitchen are preferred and will honor Steve's memory.
