Stephen Antanitis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Schellhaas Funeral Home & Cremation Svcs., Ltd. - Bakerstown on Jan. 5, 2026.
Stephen J. Antanitis, age 73, of Valencia, died on December 24, 2025. Born in Pittsburgh, PA on March 21, 1952.

Steve, as he was affectionately known, was preceded in death by his beloved father, Joseph John Antanitis, his cherished mother, Almeda Bertha Antanitis, and his two daughters, Gina M Murdoch and Christina L Antanitis.

His spirit lives on through his surviving family: his sister, Janet M. Cook/Roy, his brother, John W. Antanitis, former wife Mary Cervi and his grandchildren, Nicholas Murdoch, Abigail Layhew, and Isabella Antanitis.

Steve attended Richland High School in Gibsonia. Steve was a man of many talents, often referred to as a jack-of-all-trades. His work life was diverse, encompassing jobs in drywalling and painting, among many others. He enjoyed his retirement, finding joy in the simple pleasures of life.

An avid outdoorsman, Steve spent countless hours fishing at North Park and other local parks with lakes where he found peace and happiness. He was also a passionate ham radio operator, connecting with people from all over the globe, sharing stories and laughter. Music was another cornerstone of his life; he loved playing his guitar, singing, and recording his songs.

Steve's laughter was infectious, and he had a knack for telling jokes that brought joy to those around him. He had a unique ability to make others smile, whether through his humor or his warm, engaging personality. He loved being outdoors, embracing nature and the world around him with open arms.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at UPMC who supported Stephen and his loved ones during his final days in the CVICU unit. Your kindness will always be remembered.

A private service will be held for family to honor and celebrate the life of Stephen J. Antanitis. While we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the legacy of love, laughter, and joy that he leaves behind. His memory will forever be etched in our hearts, and his spirit will continue to shine brightly through the lives he touched

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2025 at 11 a.m. in St. Richard Church, Sts. Martha and Mary Parish, 3841 Dickey Road, Gibsonia, PA 15044. Arrangements entrusted to Schellhaas Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Ltd., Bakerstown, PA. www.schellhaasfh.com.
