It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stephen Austin "Big Bake" Baker, 25 of Ansonia, on March 11, 2025, at Kettering Health Dayton.
Born on September 26, 1999, in Greenville, Ohio, to Joshua and Debbie (Nestor) Baker, Austin was a shining light in the lives of many.
Austin was a 2018 graduate of Franklin-Monroe and MVCTC, where he studied Autobody. He worked as a mechanic, scrapmaster, and true wheeler-deeler for Aukerman's Tire and Auto in Union City, Ohio, where he found another family. His hands were always busy, whether he was working on junk cars or cruising around in his beloved truck. He had an innate talent for turning what others saw as scrap into treasures, and his vibrant personality drew everyone to him. He found happiness not just in his work, but in the simple moments spent with friends and family. Austin lived a simple, but full, life.
In addition to his parents, Austin is survived by his Bonus Dad, Rodney Swabb; siblings, Cavin (Stella) Baker of Arcanum, Aubrey Oswalt, Kelby Oswalt, and Kiersten Oswalt, all of Pitsburg, Taryk Baker of Arcanum, and Alissa Swabb of Tipp City, Alivia Swabb of Fairborn, Blake Swabb of Tipp City, and Brayden Swabb of Oxford, who will all remember him fondly. He cherished his friends Kyle Fourman, Brandon Warner, Brandy Jacobs, Ryan Morris, and Nate McMillan, who brought so much joy into his life. Austin also leaves behind his grandparents, Dale Nestor, and Marilyn Thompson; great-grandmother Liz Stephens; special aunts, Aunt Honey, Aunt Lisa, Aunt Renee, Aunt Stevi, Aunt Sarah, Aunt Christina, and Aunt Jami. Austin's family would like to thank Gradie and Candi Mitchum for all their love and support of their Awesome Austin.
Austin is preceded in death by his great-grandfather Tom Stephens and his grandparents Dolores Nestor, Gary Thompson, and Richard Baker, along with his dear friend, Sam Baker.
A Celebration of Austin's Life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Reverent Church, 1451 Sater St., Greenville, Ohio. Pastor Alex Murphy will officiate. Burial will follow at Newcomer Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus.
