Stephen Charles Balogh

Austintown - Stephen Charles Balogh, 92, passed away peacefully on Tuesday March 26, 2024.  

Steve, known by his family and friends as "Toots," was born November 12, 1931 in Struthers, OH, a son of the late Stephen J.and Mary (Maizel) Balogh.

Toots grew up in the Nebo neighborhood of Struthers. In 1950, he graduated from Struthers High School and played football for the Wildcats. Upon graduation, he joined the United States Navy and served with the Seabees.   

Toots loved cars from an early age and eventually did auto body work that led to a job as an adjuster for Allstate Insurance. Toots could take a junk car and turn it into a masterpiece. 

Toots is survived by his biological daughters, Cathy (Charles) Mitchell of Kalispell, MT and Joyce (Ray) Fox of Hubbard, OH; adopted daughters, Dawn Ferguson of Austintown, OH, and Bobbi Dodson of Boardman, OH; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and a brother, Howard Balogh of Locust Grove, VA. 

Besides his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, the former Georgia L. Walker, whom he married on September 14, 1979, and died February 17, 2004; his son, Stephen C. Balogh, Jr; and sister-in-law, Verdie Balogh.  

Per Toots' request, there will be no calling hours or funeral service.  Interment will take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Boardman.  

Toots will be remembered for his love of family and classic cars.  He will be missed by all who knew him.
