Dear Ginny
My deepest condolences to you and the family. As you have heard me say, I have very fond memories of Mr. Balser as my 11th-grade homeroom and history teacher. His extremely kind, patient, and enthusiastic nature made a lasting impression on me. Seeing the two of you return to Cheshire Academy to visit always warmed my heart. He will be very missed.

Dear Ginny,
I will miss seeing Steve at the Pequot Library where I volunteered with him on Wednesdays. I'm so glad I met the two of you through Ashton, and I send my love and condolences. He will be greatly missed.
Fondly,
Maggie Moffitt Rahe (friend and volunteer)

We have warm memories of meeting Steve for the first time (May 2022) at their home in Norwalk - good conversation, wonderful food and a walk on the beach.
Sending our condolences and love to Ginny and the rest of the family members.

As a volunteer at the Pequot Library, I welcomed every Wednesday because I knew that Steve would arrive with eagerness to get busy on the day's tasks, but
not before he reviewed the new/old history book donations and remarked about a book or author. Sadly our acquaintance was so brief, but he will be remembered with fondness. Madge Canning, Pequot Library Volunteer.

Steve had a huge personality and an almost limitless memory of history. Our book club spent many hours discussing and listening to tidbits from Steve. He'd begin a sentence with, "funny thing about that..." and then go on to tell the origin of a phrase, a time or a person...
We will miss his wit, his kindness and his love for Ginny and his family; he was a very loyal and decent man. Nancy Fishkin
