A ceremony celebrating the life of Stephen “Steve” Frank Bates Jr. will be held at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Albany, La on Thursday, February 29th, 2024 Visitation will be from 9am-11am with service to follow immediately. Steve was born in Albany, La on December 27th, 1943 and departed from this life surrounded by his family at North Oaks Medical Center, on February 24, 2024 at the age of 80 years old. He was a resident of Tickfaw, La; past resident of Pine Grove, La where he owned an Auto body shop and wrecker service for many years and he enjoyed working on vehicles and teaching his children, as well as others in the community, about vehicle repairs and maintenance. In his younger years, Steve spent most of his career as a welder, including time spent on jobs overseas. Steve always enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his many grand- and great-grandchildren. He loved and adored each one of them and would often refer to them as the very reason he lived. He is preceded in death by his father and mother Stephen Frank Bates Sr and Julia Frindik Bates; son Davin Bates, granddaughter, Madison Bates, brothers, James, Billy, Cookie, and Bobby, sisters, Pat, Judy and Janie. Survivors include his wife, Cindy Bates, children Craig Bates (Erika), Ashley Bates (Keith), Brittany Cockerham (Benjamin), also survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Pallbearers will be Davin Boudreaux, Tyler Bates, Caleb Bates, Keith Abbott, Clint Johnson, and Scott Johnson.
