Stephen Z Bischoff

Stephen Z Bischoff, 64, of Bluffton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 2nd, 2025, on Hilton Head Island. He was born on May 1st, 1960, in Royal Oak, Michigan. In 1994, Stephen married Barbara (Paiste) in Perkasie, PA. They were blessed with 2 sons, Beau and Jackson.
Stephen was the founder and proprietor of Bluffton Woodworking Co., Inc., a business he established in 1989 that allowed him to transform his passion for craftsmanship into a lifelong pursuit. His meticulous attention to detail, masterful artistry, and dedication to quality set him apart in the woodworking community. Through his work, he created stunning, heirloom-quality pieces cherished by clients both locally and across the country. His legacy will live on through his children, who will continue to uphold the high standards of excellence he instilled in the business.
Beyond his woodworking, Stephen was a highly skilled marksman and firearms expert. He held an IDPA Expert classification in pistol shooting and trained extensively with world-renowned instructors, refining his expertise in both advanced firearms handling and gunsmithing. As the owner of BoJax Shooting School, he was deeply committed to responsible gun ownership, educating and mentoring countless students in marksmanship, self-defense, and concealed carry certification. His passion for precision and safety made a lasting impact on all those he trained.
Stephen is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Bischoff; his sons, Beau and Jackson; and his siblings, Duke (Kathy) Bischoff, Doris (Larry) Rybicki, Theresa Bischoff, Mary (Mike Wilson) Bischoff, Nancy (Michael) Dillingham, Jeffrey Bischoff, and David (Judith Flückiger) Bischoff. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Arletta Bischoff and Nancy Bischoff; his mother-in-law, Evelyn Paiste; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert Craig (Meredith Wilson) and Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Paiste; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Bischoff and Lotus Pack; his brothers, James, Rodney, Johnny, and Robert; and his father-in-law, Major Albert Paiste.
Please join us at Bluffton Woodworking Co. on March 29th, 2025, at 4:00 PM for a Celebration of Stephen's Life. Interment will be at 11am on May 3rd, 2025, at St. Peters Cemetery, Clinton Twp., MI.
