Stephen Dale Boutwell was born on March 8th, 1968 in Tulsa, OK to Howard Irwin Boutwell and Ruby Mae Boutwell bringing with him an unexpected 10-inch snow storm. Upon his delivery, Stephen made it known that he was going to imprint himself on every soul he would encounter. Stephen often used his gift of creative writing and witty charm to inspire greatness around him. Stephen spent his childhood exploring parts of Oklahoma due to his dad's Ministry as a pastor until his high school graduation from Sharon Mutual High School.
Stephen was a doting dad to his children, Ehrett and Allene. Stephen would often be heard referring to his son as a miracle child and his daughter will always remain his Babygirl. Stephen always boasted about his children and grandson, Elston, celebrating accomplishments as the proud dad he was. Stephen could always be found front and center for school concerts, sporting events and award ceremonies for his children.
Being as competitive as he was, Stephen enjoyed playing games of dominos (specifically moon), fishing, shooting a game of pool, watching any sport that the University of Oklahoma (OU) Sooners had to offer, and always cheering on the Dallas Cowboys.
Stephen could ALWAYS be found with a cup (or a gallon) of McAlister's Deli sweet tea with ice on the side. We all know this to loving referred to as "The Tea Store".
Although Stephen was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven far too soon for those of us on Earth, he was called home by some of those he loved the most. The angels responsible for carrying his soul were his dad, Howard I. Boutwell, his maternal grandparents Everett Park and Eula Park, his paternal grandparents Wesley Boutwell and Minnie Boutwell, and his brother Paul Dean Boutwell. Stephen is survived by his son Ehrett Logan Boutwell of Norman, daughter Allene Maye Allen of Norman, grandson Elston Logan Ward of Norman, brothers Keith Alan Boutwell of Edmond and Michael Ray Boutwell of Muskogee, his parents Ruby and James Hennington of Tishomingo, his niece and nephews, and many family members and friends who loved him dearly.
Stephen was adamant about the way he wanted to be celebrated-and celebrating is exactly what we all will do. A Celebration of Life will be held at Half Time Sports Bar and Grill on December 28th, 2024, from 1pm to 7pm.
